Smok has been making high quality and affordable Batteries, Tanks, and Accessories for quite a while now. The Prince Tank is the latest new item to get added to their already massive lineup of products. Although I won't go into a whole lot of detail on the Prince Tank itself, I want to devote a review in the future focused on the Tank, I can't help but mention the new resin drip tip. It's incredible, and has a unique way if funneling the vapor once it leaves the tank, that adds flavor, creates a thicker cloud and overall dramatically improves the experience. Personally, I'm a bit partial to the Naked 100 line of e-juices, so I will stick with what I enjoy for the sake of this review. Although I haven't tried the Azul Berries flavor just yet, I suspect its pretty good, as are most of Naked 100 flavors. The Prince Stick Starter kit comes with a good amount of accessories and spares you would come to expect of Smok kits, it's nothing to write home about, but when you consider the price, it's hard to find a reason to complain. The prince kit includes the typical spare coil and some replacement gaskets and O-rings, but it lacks a spare glass tube, so I would encourage you to go out and get a silicone tank band in case your Prince Stick falls. The glass on the Prince Tank sticks out almost 2mm from the rest of the device and is prone to be the first point of contact in a fall. Coming in at just under $40 (at the time of this writing), the Smok Stick Prince Kit is a fantastic value on paper.
With the introductions out of the way, let's dive in and see how the Smok Stick Prince kit does in comparison to my older, but still great Stick V8 Baby. Right off the bat, the device itself feels sturdier, albeit a similar weight. All the parts fit together perfectly and I'm not seeing any manufacturer defects that have plagued older Smok models in the past. The top cap slides fairly easy and does feel like an improvement over the V8 Baby, it's easier to push the button and slide the cap off with one finger, whereas I would always struggle with the Baby Tank. Filling the tank is identical to every other similar sized Smok tank and requires you to feed the e-juice through a reasonably sized slot. Personally, I tend to take the little silicone liner out first as I found that it helps keep e-juice from dripping over and leaking into the airflow tube. The airflow tube rises higher than the fill slot, so you virtually never have to worry about contamination, just as long as you remember to wipe down the area under the silicone before you stick it back on. As a side note, replacing the coil is still as cumbersome as it's always been, as you have to fight with the removable parts to get them to come off. For me, this is the worst part of the Smok Tanks and I wish they would take a look at competitors like Aspire, that seem to have coil replacement down to a science, with a great balance of security, quality, and usability. Every time I try and unscrew the top of the tank, I feel like I'm breaking the darn thing, as the button to slide the top cap loves to get pressed in the process. The common gripes aside, the coil that comes with the Kit is pretty good. It's a good balance that's perfect for a beginner, who this kit is aimed towards. The standalone Prince Tank comes with a much better variety, but this is still a great start. The Smok Stick battery is great like always, and in my tests, it held a charge very well, thanks to its 3000mAh capacity. As always the user manual, if you can call it that, comes with hilarious misspellings and poorly translated phrases, that we've all come to expect from Smok, and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. Just remember to "avoid making the e-liquid into your mouth directly".
Let's move onto the fun part, using the darn thing and trying out the deliciously smelling e-juice. I can't get enough of the smell of Naked 100 Azul Berries. In all honesty, it genuinely reminds me of a bakery, with all the fruity, creamy and vanilla filled aromas. I do have a confession to make, I'm using a 0mg juice this time around and I'm sorry. I've really been enjoying Naked 100 juices without nicotine lately, as the creaminess and smoothness are just incredible without the harsh nicotine. Right away you're hit with a strong sugary taste, and for a second I actually thought I had a leak. Thankfully I didn't and it's just the juice itself. Naked 100 cream juices are very rich in sugar which results in a strong, sugary vapor being produced. The flavor itself is rich and creamy with strong fruity notes, from the blueberry and raspberry components. Overall the juice is a fantastic balance of sweet and fruity and a great desert vape. Combined with the Smok TFV12 Prince tank you get an incredible experience with some of the best cloud production I've experienced from a ready-made coil and tank. A word of caution, however, Smok Tanks have a tendency to leak on first use, and that's simply because some components are not properly tightened at the factory. I suggest taking the tank apart and making sure all connections are nice and snug.
The Smok Stick TFV12 Prince Starter Kit is a fantastic new addition to the already massive Smok product lineup. The Stick battery provides the even and long-lasting power we have come to expect from the Stick line, and the TFV12 Prince tank adds better capacity and new mouth tip and chimney design that results in thicker clouds. Paired with a delicious e-juice like the Naked 100 Azul Berries, the Prince Kit delivers everything you would want in a vape.
